Machine Learning / Heathcare Data Analytics in Ultra Endurance

Our goal: to compile randomized patient data in order to predict the accidentology and the consequences of endurance sports on the body icone ultra-endurance santé

The research projects focus on the following priorities:
o A fine characterization of the accidentology sport by sport in order to obtain predictive models.
o A zoom on specific pathologies in order to improve the healthcare policy on events.
o The development of models centered on the intrinsic risks for any athlete.
o The publication of research results, thanks to the dissemination of educational tools by the Ultra Sports Science Foundation.

We support this program to
reduce risks during and after
Ultra Endurance events

Our medical researches

1. Classification of accidentology

  • Research: Comparative assessment of accidentology on sport events, using an extended scale of the Manchester Triage System (MTS)
  • Sports addressed: Trail-Running, Road-Running, Cycling, Triathlon
  • Research Director: Gaspard Lebel - Logever Healthcare (www.logicoss.com)
  • Summary: The MTS is a reference triage scale used to define the maximal admissible delay to admit a patient in an emergency room. The logicoss teams have extended this scale in order to convert it into a scale suitable for pre-hospital cares as well.
Thus, the extended scale qualifies the severity of all the pathologies encountered and not only those of the evacuated patients (the hospital admission rate is around 1.5% of care in Trail Running for example and double in Road Running).
The objective of this Research is to characterize the prevalence of the different levels of MTS according to the sports, the events, the phases of the event and the conditions in which each event takes place. The Research is interested as much in the intrinsic parameters of the tests (distance, elevation) as in the exogenous parameters (temperature, humidity, air quality). The second phase of Research will consist of establishing predictive models.
  • Research ongoing

2. Heat Impact

  • Research: Analysis of pathologies related to heat in road running.
  • Sports addressed: Road-Running
  • Research Director: Pr Antoine Duclos - ESPER Lab, EA7425, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Hospices Civils de Lyon.
  • Partners: Amaury Sport Organisation , Chrono-course , Logever Healthcare
  • Summary: The project aims to study the correlation between consultations at first aid stations for pathologies potentially linked to heat in participants of the Paris Marathon and various determinants. The determinants investigated are either environmental (temperature, humidity), related to participants (age, sex),or linked to the event (number of participants, route of the race).
  • Research performed in 2019

3. Retrospective clinical analysis of road running accidentology

  • Research: Reducing Medical Complications and Injuries at Endurance Sports Events: SAFER STUDIES
  • Research Director: Pr Martin Schwellnus - Sport, Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute (SEMLI), University of Pretoria.
  • Partners: World Athletics, Logever Healthcare
  • Summary: The South African SAFER IMAP study is conducted in partnership with the International Athletics Federation (Word Athletics). It aims to analyze the risk factors inducing medical complications for athletes. The initial objective of the program is to collect health data relating to 1 million participants. Through the USS Fundation, LOGEVER HEALTHCARE will contribute by providing 80% of the expected volume of data in year 1, and 100% from year 2.
  • Research ongoing, initiated in 2019

4. Heart problems seem less serious in Trail than in Road Running. Is this true and why?

  • Research: Epidemiology of heart problems in Trail-running and Road-running
  • Sports addressed: Trail & Road running
  • Research Director: Dr Stéphane DOUTRELEAU - Laboratoire HP2 - Unité Inserm 1042 , CHU de Grenoble, Université Grenoble Alpes.
  • Partners: Logever Healthcare
  • Summary: The objectives are to compare cardiovascular events in the two disciplines studied and to characterize the profile of people affected. The final objective is to build prevention messages adapted to athletes and caregivers. Find the detail of the research on the page Sudden death of athletes
  • Research ongoing, initiated in 2019

LOGICOSS

A Digital Medical encounter designed for sport events medical staff

Designed for events, very easy to handle, the logicoss application allows caregivers to retrace in just 7 clicks the care carried out at any point on the event!

In addition to the patient health folder feature, the platform also makes it possible to make a series of health and safety missions reliable on any sporting event (management & geolocation of volunteers, diffusion of informations to the relatives, management of call for rescue, management of rescue teams, geollocation of victims, etc.).

Being a unique tool on the sport event market, the platform now monitors more than 700,000 athletes per year in 13 countries around the world.
